WHAT'S THE BEST TIME OF DAY FOR A SENIOR PHOTO SHOOT?

We are so super fortunate to live in an exciting and beautiful place like the Washington DC, Maryland, and Virginia area. The city, the monuments, the green space, parks, the beauty of the burbs, interesting people, the waterfronts, and the views... all a treasure and breathtaking!!!! We live in a very photogenic area. That is ever so true, as you can drive around the Beltway, exit, and there are so many opportunities to find interesting and visually cool places in DC, Virginia, or Maryland. That's what this area offers in terms of places and locations to shoot a senior session. But here's the thing. In terms of the time of the day to shoot a session some times of day are much, much better than others to have your senior photos taken. So what's the best time of day?

GOLDEN HOUR IS THE BEST TIME OF DAY FOR PHOTOS

Golden Hour is the time of day right before sunset where the light is gorgeous. On a day when the sun is out and spreading its beauty and warmth, the sun at Golden Hour has a powerful effect and makes everyone and everything look pretty good. I LOVE LOVE to schedule outdoor sessions at Golden Hour. Hopefully students are finished with school at this time of day, and mom and dad are finished up with their work day. So it is generally an ideal time to schedule a session.. Hopefully no scheduling scheduling conflicts get in the way. But of course, I try to accommodate folks if this time of day is not the best.

IF NOT GOLDEN HOUR, THE MORNING IS SECOND BEST

But I also want to let you know that the key is flexibility in terms of scheduling. If not the Golden Hour, I'll be able to serve you and deliver beautiful photos no matter the time of day. So if you can't make a Golden Hour shoot work, no problem!!! I will schedule your session for the morning, usually around 9 or 10am when the sun is not too intense or too far up in the sky just yet. If you're a morning person, that's even more of a reason to schedule a session at this time. if you're also a morning person and rearing to go in the morning even better. My objective is definitely to have happy campers!!! In a great mood in the morning, that's a win win!
